Looking for innovative ways to capture evidence of learning in your playful early years classroom? Join us to explore how to design play-based experiences that reveal what students know, understand, and can do within curriculum outcomes and KUSPs.

In this one-hour virtual session, you’ll gain practical strategies to document student thinking through observations and conversations, and learn how to use that evidence to plan next steps in meaningful, engaging ways. We’ll also share efficient low-tech and high-tech approaches to making learning visible—while keeping up with the pace of a busy classroom.

The session will be recorded, and all materials will be shared with registrants. Even better, join us live on Zoom to contribute your ideas, connect with other educators, and deepen your approach to playful, purposeful assessment.

Cheryl Babin

Cheryl Babin is a Designer of Professional Learning with the Alberta Regional Professional Development Consortia based in Calgary. With experience in public, international and independent schools, Cheryl has held many roles including classroom and lead teacher, experiential learning coordinator, instructional coach, IB coordinator and workshop leader across North America and a sessional instructor for pre-service teachers. Cheryl currently designs and facilitates professional learning opportunities for teachers and leaders in the region. She believes strongly in building trusting relationships to co-create on-going, embedded experiences over time that best meet the needs of the learning community. Specific areas of interest and experience include making learning meaningful through critical thinking and inquiry-based pedagogy, developing conceptual understanding, student engaged assessment for learning, and the development of international-mindedness and global perspectives.

Christine Lederer

Christine is a retired-from-the-classroom teacher with 28 years teaching experience with the Calgary Board of Education and Foothills School Division. She spent most of her career teaching and learning alongside children in Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2. She also worked as an IB Coordinator, Instructional Coach, and Learning Coach for 16 years. Christine is a member of the IB Educator Network and enjoys supporting colleagues around North America as a school visitor, workshop leader and consultant. Christine is looking forward to exploring the many ways we can observe and assess our youngest learners as they engage in playful activities.
