Erin Ochoa Whelan
Erin Ochoa Whelan holds a Master's degree in Education from the University of Alberta and has been teaching with Edmonton Catholic Schools since 2004. Her area of specialization is Secondary English Language Arts curriculum, with particular expertise in assessment and feedback, reading instruction, and the teaching of writing. Throughout her career, she has supported students and educators in developing effective practices that foster engagement, critical thinking, and subject area expertise. Erin brings extensive experience as a marker of the Alberta ELA 30-1 Diploma Exam and has contributed to literacy development through the publication of two division-based student writing anthologies. She currently serves on the executive of the English Language Arts Council (ELAC), supporting professional learning and advocacy for English Language Arts education. Erin is passionate about equitable instruction and professional learning that enhances student improvement and meaningful learning experiences.
